- The first thing every scrapbooker should know is: SCRAPBOOKING IS EXPENSIVE! It may not seem like it would be an expensive project but it will get there fast. My first round of shopping is always the cheapest. I’m trying to keep expenses to a minimum and my buying self-control is still intact. However, once the creating of the book and pages begin my ideas do as well and I find myself buying more and more stuff.
- Keep an eye out for weekly sales and coupons! The coupons are great to use for those higher priced items.
- When using rubber cement wait a couple of hours before putting them in the book behind the plastic. The fumes from the drying glue will cause the plastic to blister and appear warped.
- When laying out a page don’t forget to include space to add text to explain the event. If it’s a gift it’s nice to leave this space for a person to fill in their account of the event. Example
- Don’t forget to save programs, ticket stubs, newspaper articles, cards, invitations, or any other kind of material that could add a nice touch. Example

- Try to make whatever you can out of construction paper. It's much cheaper than stickers and other materials! Plus it ads more of that hand crafted charm. Example, One More
- Use construction paper and crazy edged sissors to matte pictures and create a fun look. Example
- Keep the title of the page in mind when laying out pictures. It can be the biggest asset to making a simple page look great.
